'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' adds Julianne Moore as President Coin
A big piece of the "Mockingjay" puzzle is not in place, with the official announcement that Julianne Moore is joining the cast as President Alma Coin for the final two films in the "Hunger Games" franchise. The announcement was made by Lionsgate after months of speculation that Moore would take on the role. President Coin is leader of the rebellion that opposes President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final "Hunger Games" book, which will become "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2." She uses Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) as a pawn in her war against the Capitol.
Moore is the fourth new cast member announced for "Mockingjay." "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer will play film director Cressida, while Evan Ross is joining as Messalla, a member of her crew. Finally, Stef Dawson has been cast as Annie Cresta, the love interest of Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin), and a fellow victor from his home district.
Preparations for "Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2" are currently underway, as the movies move closer to a start date. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" will be in theaters November 22.
