'Grand Theft Auto V' destroys records to become best-selling video game ever
Well, after five years of waiting, "Grand Theft Auto V" is in stores and making a huge impact. The latest installment in the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise is officially the best-selling video game of all time, after smashing the record for most money made in 24 hours with over $800 million, according to THR.
The record was previously held by "Call of Duty: Black Ops II," which released in 2012 to $500 million. "Grand Theft Auto V's" release has been met with acclaim across the board, from fans and critics.
The game is the first in the series with a narrative that switched back and forth between three different characters, all of which are playable. It also boasts the biggest open-world map in franchise history, which is quite a feat considering how big the game has been previously.
The interesting question is what happens once Xbox One and PlayStation 4 come out. The game won't be playable on those systems.
