Emmys 2013: Seth Meyers staying with 'SNL' during 'Late Night'?
While walking the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet, Seth Meyers got to talking about his new job as host of "Late Night" once Jimmy Fallon moves on to take over "The Tonight Show." He will assume hosting duties in February, but does that mean he'll be leaving "Saturday Night Live"?
While Seth says getting his own late night talk show is "a great reason to leave" the sketch comedy program, that doesn't necessarily mean he will. When asked about the rumor that "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels wants Meyers to stay on as "Weekend Update" anchor when he takes over "Late Night" duties, Seth explains, "Lorne always thinks you can work a little bit harder."
However, he doesn't think the idea is impossible. Meyers says that launching the new version of "Late Night" will be his top priority, but when the time comes he'll see if sticking around "SNL" is something he can fit into his schedule. Since they'll be shot in the same building, it's not the craziest idea that Seth could stick around. It would definitely be a lot of work, though.
It's already been announced that Meyers will have a co-anchor when "SNL's" new season begins, as Cecily Strong will sit next to him, the first time he's regularly shared the duties since Amy Poehler left the show in 2008.
