Perez Hilton, Lady Gaga feud continues: Blogger responds to singer's claims of stalking
The two have been trading venomous insults back and forth, and it escalated when the "Applause" singer accused Hilton of stalking her. Hilton -- real name Mario Lavandeira -- released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter in response to Gaga's claims: "My heart hurts that my former very good friend Lady GaGa, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter. While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a stalker. Any allegation that I am stalking her is utterly false, defamatory and now appear to be putting me in danger. I will continue to be a critic -- in a way that is not mean or involves name-calling, and I will continue to have an opinion and talk about music and songs, like GaGa's 'Applause.' As the suggestion that I pose a danger to GaGa is preposterous, if fans want to send a message of support to her, they should buy her music."
While that certainly sounds heartfelt and mature, Hilton's tweets are anything but. The blogger has been claiming that the singer is "sick" and an addict, and in addition to treatment for her hip surgery, she needs "treatment for [her] other issues too," and that drugs ruined her career and their friendship. Hilton has also been retweeting death threats he has gotten from Lady Gaga's fans (though Lady Gaga has publicly told her fans not to send threats of any kind).
So how did the feud begin? The cause is still unclear, but Hilton has been celebrating Lady Gaga's new single's weak performance on the charts and Lady Gaga revealed that Hilton sent a cruel text on the day an accident confined her to a wheelchair. "Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident," the pop star tweeted.
And as for the claims of Hilton stalking Gaga: fans alerted the singer to Hilton's presence at her New York apartment, but according to a source, Hilton was apartment shopping in Manhattan and was merely scheduled to see a unit in Gaga's building, Billboard reports. "He's looking for a place that meets his family's needs," says an insider who says that Hilton had "no idea" Gaga lived there.
