Mom Donna Micheletti says Gia Allemand's 'friend' speaking to media is not to be trusted
Since the suicide death of "Bachelor" star Gia Allemand, media outlets have reported alleged details about the former model's life and relationship with her boyfriend, NBA player Ryan Anderson, quoting anonymous sources who claim to be close to Gia. But her mother, Donna Micheletti, now says none of the stories can be believed.
"The family and close friends of Gia Allemand have not spoken to the media to date, nor have they posted comments or insight on Twitter," Micheletti says in a statement released to the media. "There are numerous statements and theories in the media regarding Gia's death and her life that refer to sources close to Gia or friends of hers."
Some outlets have reported Allemand and Anderson had a rocky relationship as of late. And some reported specifics, such as Allemand was depressed because Anderson refused to propose. Still other reports credit "friends" as saying Allemand struggled with insecurities.
"As her mother, I am well aware of Gia's close friends and her best friends," Micheletti's statement continues. "And I am personally going on record to refute all statements to the media out there thus far with the exception of official statements we have released through publicist Penelope Jean Hayes, and those jointly with Ryan Anderson's NBA team representation."
She goes on to name a specific "friend," who she says Gia told her was not to be trusted. According to Micheletti, a woman named Loredana Ferriolo is "identifying herself as Gia's best friend and the fact is that Gia expressed directly to me that she did not trust this individual and her motives for her own public exposure."
Micheletti says she herself will speak openly to "a trusted media source" after Gia is laid to rest. Her funeral is expected to be held in the coming week at Papavero Funeral Home in Queens, N.Y.
After Allemand was removed from life support, Anderson released the following statement:
"I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared."
