Katie Couric backpedals on Kim Kardashian diss: 'I didn't mean to hurt her feelings'
Katie Couric learned the hard way that you don't mess with the Kardashians. After admitting in an interview that she doesn't "understand" why people are so obsessed with the family of reality stars, she found herself facing the wrath of Kim Kardashian.
In an interview with In Touch, Couric says of the Kardashian family, "I don't understand. Why are they so famous? I think it's mostly teenage girls that are interested."
Kardashian responded with an Instagram photo of the baby gift Couric sent North West and the hashtags, "#IHateFakeMediaFriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkS***."
Couric's answer? An apology that ultimately amounts to, "Whoops!"
"I was responding to a reporter's question, and explaining how I'm intrigued by the public's fascination with her family. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye," she says in a statement to E! News.
Somehow we doubt Kardashian will be bringing baby North West on "Katie" any time soon.
