James Cameron announces 'Avatar' novels to be written by Steven Charles Gould
Just in case four "Avatar" movies aren't enough to satisfy your appetite for big blue cats, James Cameron has a special surprise. The director has announced four novels, which will expand on the movie's universe. The stand-alone books will be written by Steven Charles Gould ("Jumper").
Cameron is excited to have Gould on board for the books, saying, "We're very fortunate to have Steven bring his formidable talents to the 'Avatar' universe." There's no timetable for any of the novels announced yet.
The director is currently working with a team of screenwriters on the scripts for the next three "Avatar" movies, which will begin production in 2014. The first, "Avatar 2," is scheduled for release in December 2016. There's also that bizarre possibility of an "Avatar" musical on Broadway, which seems ridiculously unlikely.
