Baby Jasleen is Germany's biggest birth at over 13 pounds
Woman around the world give birth every single day. However, one new mother in Germany went above and beyond with her labor, giving natural birth to the country's largest baby on record. Jasleen was born at a weight of 13.4 pounds.
German news site Der Spiegel reports that Jasleen's mother suffered from gestational diabetes, which is what led to the high birth weight. The hospital says both mother and daughter are doing well, with Jasleen remaining in the neonatal care unit.
Surprisingly, Jasleen is nowhere near the biggest baby ever born. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, that honor belongs to a boy born in Canada in 1879, who weighed in at over 23 pounds. Unfortunately, he died 11 hours after birth.
