Lil Snupe, protege of rapper Meek Mill, dies at 18 in shooting
Up and coming rapper Lil Snupe has died at 18 years old. The death was confirmed on Twitter by his manager, Leem7st. He writes Thursday (June 20), "The call I got this morning is un real RIP 2 my Lil n**** lilsnupe."
The Associated Press reports Snupe, real name Addarren Ross, was killed in a Louisiana shooting Thursday morning. Police are looking for a "person of interest," but have not discovered a motive behind the murder.
Rapper Meek Mill, who considered Snupe his protoge, later commented on his death, tweeting, "I tried everything in my power 2 get that kid out of the streets!" That message followed a tweet asking for Snupe to contact him.
Ross was originally from Louisiana and recently signed with the Dream Chasers record label minutes after Mill heard his demo tape. In an odd turn, Snupe tweeted June 13, "Alotta People Thought i Wouldn't Make it 2 See This Day."
