'Avatar' 2 and 3 to shoot in early 2014 says star Zoe Saldana
While appearing on "The Jonathan Ross Show" to promote "Star Trek Into Darkness," Zoe Saldana was asked about another well-known franchise she's at the center of. Saldana starred in 2009's "Avatar" from director James Cameron. The director has said repeatedly that he plans to make sequels, which makes sense since it's the highest-grossing movie of all time. Already planned is a trilogy, with even a possible fourth movie eventually.
Now, the second and third movies have a time frame, as Saldana reveals she's scheduled to begin filming them back-to-back, beginning in early 2014. "Because if we just do two and then wait, I'll probably be 45 or 50 by the time we get to part three. It takes a long time, it's a very hard process," she says.
The first "Avatar" sequel is tentatively scheduled to be released sometime in 2015. Whenever Cameron finished up with the series, he's announced he'll direct "The Informationalist." So, look for that in the year 2035.
