'Carrie' trailer: Chloe Grace Moretz poised to terrify in remake
The trailer for Kimberly Peirce's "Carrie" remake, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, is finally here, proving itself worth the wait.
Originally slated for release on March 15, the film was pushed back seven months to October 18, the ideal release date for a horror film of this magnitude. "Carrie" co-stars Julianne Moore as the telekinetic teen's mom Margaret White (played by Piper Laurie in Brian De Palma's original 1976 adaptation of the Stephen King novel).
The trailer hits all the beats you'd expect it to: Introducing Moore's religious zealousness, Carrie's outsider status at school, and the prom. Oh, yes, the prom. The uninitiated may be inclined to complain about spoilers, but fans of the source material will be pleased to know that Peirce's adaptation seems poised to pack in all the insanity they've been hoping for.
"Carrie" hits theaters October 18.
