Queen Elizabeth cancels engagements in wake of illness

Queen Elizabeth has canceled her recent engagements due to illness, but palace officials say there is no serious health concern.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman says, "The queen will regrettably no longer attend the Commonwealth observance at Westminster Abbey today as she continues to recover following her recent illness."

The Queen was recently hospitalized with symptoms of gastroenteritis and was forced to cancel a trip to Italy. She was released from the hospital early last week and plans to attend some of her official engagements later this week.

The 86-year-old monarch is generally in good health. This was the first time in 10 years she has been hospitalized. Her husband, Prince Philip, 91, has been hospitalized three times since December 2011.
