Marathon runner dies of heart attack at age 47 in Barcelona

A marathon runner died after running the 2013 Barcelona marathon. He was 47.

The unidentified Barcelona resident suffered a heart attack while running the 26.2 miles of the race, the Associated Press reports. Barcelona's Clinic Hospital confirms the man's death, and says he passed away shortly after arriving in their clinic.

The winning racers in 2013 were Gezahgne Abrera, who got the fastest men's pace with 2 hours, 10 minutes, 17 seconds, and Lemelen Berha, who won the women's with a finish time of 2 hours, 34 minutes, 39 seconds.
