Kate Winslet joins 'Divergent' with Shailene Woodley and Theo James

The cast of of the film-adaptation of "Divergent," a young adult novel, is shaping up quite nicely. It was confirmed Thursday that Oscar Award-winning actress Kate Winslet has signed onto the movie, which is set to begin production in April.
Deadline reports Winslet joins Shailene Woodley and Theo James, along with Zoƫ Kravitz, Maggie Q, and Jai Courtney. Aaron Eckhart is also reportedly close to closing a deal to appear in the film. Woodley is building quite a resume for herself. Beyond he lead role in "Divergent," she will also take on the part of Mary Jane Watson, the eventual love interest of Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which will be in theaters May 2014. Additionally, she's been offered the lead role of Hazel in "The Fault in Our Stars," a movie adaptation of another young adult novel.
"Divergent" has been compared to another young adult novel, turned movie, "The Hunger Games." It takes place in a dystopian future, where humanity has divided itself into five factions, each focusing on a core value (selflessness, intelligence, honesty, peacefulness, and bravery). The book is the first in a trilogy of novels, the third of which has yet to be announced.
