Jessie J shaves head to raise money for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day
English singer/songwriter Jessie J really stepped up to the plate for charity. In an appearance on a Comic Relief telethon on BBC1, Jessie shaved her head as a fundraising stunt. The haircut was done as part of the biennial Red Nose Day event, held by Comic Relief.
By the time she revealed her new look on live television, over $750,000 had been raised for the organization, which will be used to help a number of charities around the world. Red Nose Day is celebrated across the UK, with many wearing a red clown nose to show their support. The day culminates with the telethon, broadcast live on television. The event features comedians and sketches, along with celebrity guests performing dares, using the tagline "Do something funny for money."
