'The Lone Ranger' trailer: They ride for justice
Disney unveiled the trailer for "The Lone Ranger" during CBS' Super Bowl pre-gam show Sunday (Feb. 3). It's safe to say this is not your father's masked man.
Directed by Gore Verbinski (the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise) and starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp, "The Lone Ranger" is every bit a 21st-century action movie, from the big set pieces to the close-up effects shot of a revolver's chamber turning.
As for the plot? Well ... yeah. There's a bit of exposition about Hammer's Texas Ranger character being left for dead, being discovered by Tonto (Depp) and the two of them teaming up to "ride for justice." Hammer then returns to his home, presumably for unfinished business.
"The Lone Ranger" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3. Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think.
