Sony teases Feb. 20 announcement: Is the Playstation 4 coming?

Sony has something big planned for Feb. 20. The video game company released the above video and launched a new website teasing a major announcement coming at 6 p.m. that day, and it seems like the company could finally be ready to officially reveal the Playstation 4.

It's no secret that Sony gives its various consoles a 10-year lifespan, which means it's high time for the company's fourth generation system to be unveiled. The Playstation 2 came out in 2000 and the Playstation 3 was made available in 2006. With the PS2 now discontinued and the PS3 on the market for over six years, it makes sense that Sony would be ready to release the PS4.

Nintendo debuted the first of the new generation of consoles in 2012 when the WiiU was released. It is expected that Microsoft will soon unveil the successor to its Xbox 360 -- potentially titled the Xbox 720 -- as well. It could be that Sony is announcing something else entirely during this event, but the whole "See the Future" angle of the Feb. 20 meeting seems to be pointing directly at a Playstation 4 announcement.
