Sausage recalled after pieces of plastic are found in meat

Smithfield Packing Co. has issued a pork sausage recall due to the possibility that the product could contain small pieces of plastic, the Associated Press reports. 38,000 pounds of pork are included in the recall.
The company, which believe the plastic is likely from gloves, issued the recall after receiving two consumer complaints, though there has been no reports of injury. The product, a roll of mild sausage from "Gwaltney," was produced January 11, and distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and the District of Columbia.
Thus far, 2013 has been the year of the food product recall. From horse meat over in Ireland and the UK, to glass shards in frozen meals and cereal in the United States, it has not been a good year for quality control, so far.
