New Monopoly piece revealed as the cat; the iron is being retired

The pieces for the popular real estate game Monopoly are getting a new look this year. The game announced via Facebook last month that voting was open to both retire one of the classic pieces and vote in a new piece.

The results are in. The piece with the lowest number of "save" votes, which means it is being retired, is the iron -- which is the piece we predicted would be booted. It's just kind of a boring piece, right?

We also picked the correct new piece: the cat. It received the most votes, beating out the diamond ring, helicopter, guitar and robot, so look for it to be joining the new Monopoly games soon.
