President Barack Obama was recently in Illinois to give a speech about gun violence, but his presence came too late for one Chicago teen. An 18-year-old woman was killed on the same day her sister sat behind Obama at his Hyde Park Career Acadamy speech.

Janay Mcfarlane was shot in the head at around 11:30 p.m. after visiting friends and family in North Chicago. Her mother tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the bullet was meant for the friend she was with. Earlier in the day, Janay's 14-year-old sister Destini was reportedly only feet from Obama when he spoke to a Chicago crowd about the need for gun legislation.

Meanwhile, a high school student named Frances Colon was killed in the city on the same day in a separate instance. She is the third student from Roberto Clemente High School shot and killed in Chicago this year, ABC News reports.
