Ex-beauty queen Peggy Sue Thomas sentenced to 4 years for murder
A former Ms. Washington, winning the competition in 2000, Peggy Sue Thomas has been sentenced to four years in prison for her role in a 2003 murder. Thomas was accused of plotting, along with boyfriend James Huden, to kill a man named Russ Douglas, according to KOMO.
Prosecutors say Thomas lured Douglas to the location he was killed on Whidbey Island, about 30 miles north of Seattle, Wash. Douglas was found shot to death in a car, two days after Christmas 2003. After the death, Thomas moved onto a houseboat on a lake in New Mexico, until her arrest in 2011.
She plead guilty in January to rendering criminal assistance, but refused to talk about the murder when given the opportunity. Huden was convicted of murder last summer and sentenced to 80 years. Gail O'Neil, Douglas's mother, pleaded with Thomas to find it in her heart to open up about what happened that night. "I hope that if you ever get the guts to tell, that you can call me and tell me exactly what happened, because we are mothers," she says.
