Britney Spears debuts brown hair at Elton John's Oscar party - yay or nay?

Pop star Britney Spears debuted some new tresses at Elton John's AIDS Foundation Oscar party Sunday (Feb. 24) at West Hollywood's Pacific Design Center. Her colorist says Brit-Brit has been wanting to go dark for awhile.

"Britney has wanted a change for about a month, but we waited a while until we decided to go with it," Spears' colorist Brittany Hunter tells E!. "We wanted to make sure she was going to be committed to it before we made the change as it can be a difficult process going from light blonde to brunette."

"I wanted to keep her as close to her natural color as possible, so not too dark," Hunter continues. "In the end, we went with a very natural and rich light brown."
