Youth hockey league holding gun raffle to raise money for ice time
There are many of ways to raise money, but this is by far one of the most unique. A youth hockey league in North Dakota is having a raffle, they want to raise money to afford more ice time. Sounds simple enough, but Valley News Live is reporting this isn't a run of the mill raffle. The West Fargo Hockey Association will be raffling off 200 firearms to lucky ticket buyers. Citing a nationwide shortage of guns, hockey association president Cal Helgeson hopes the raffle will raise $90,000 for the group.
The raffle comes at a time when the gun control debate is on everyone's mind. President Barack Obama has recently introduced proposals for gun control reform, in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting in December.
