Whitney Houston's brother Michael admits to getting her hooked on drugs

It's no secret that Whitney Houston had a drug problem, but many blame her addiction on her abusive ex-husband Bobby Brown. In a new "Oprah's Next Chapter" interview, Oprah Winfrey gets Houston's brother Michael Houston to admit that he gave his late sister her first taste of crack cocaine.

"It's painful. I feel responsible for what I let go so far," he says, via TMZ. "We were always together most of the time, and her following behind me, I taught her to drive. We played together and everything that you do together as you're growing up, and then when you get into drugs you do that together too, and it just got out of hand. It was rough."

Michael adds, "You gotta understand at the time, the '80s, it was acceptable."

This revelation comes after Cissy Houston wrote in her book "Remembering Whitney" that, after she found out her two children were doing hard drugs together, she "was shocked and hurt and confused. I didn't understand it then, and I still don't."

Cissy also absolves Brown of his drug connection to Houston, writing, "I blame him for the way he treated her, but I don't blame him for her drug problems. ... He didn't help her, that's for damn sure."
