Ray Lewis denies using deer antler spray with banned substance

ray-lewis-denies-using-deer-antler-spray-gi.jpgIt's a big day for drugs in sports. First baseball, now Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is under the spotlight. After a report that he used a deer antler spray containing a banned substance to speed the healing of a torn triceps, USA Today says Lewis denied the report at Super Bowl media day.

"Two years ago, that was the same report," Lewis said. When asked directly if he ever used the spray, which contains a banned substance called IGF-1, Lewis replied, "Nah, never."

The last time Lewis was in the Super Bowl, he was at the center of a whole other kind of controversy. Lewis was charged with murder and aggravated assault following a post-Super Bowl fight that ended in the stabbing deaths of two people in 2000. The charges were dropped when Lewis made a deal to plea guilty to obstruction of justice and testify against two other men also charged in the killings. Those two men were eventually acquitted.
