President George H.W. Bush may be released from hospital soon
Former President George H.W. Bush, who was hospitalized back in November, has finally gotten some good news in his extended hospital stay -- he may be going home soon. A family spokesman says Sunday (Jan. 13), "We are hopeful that the president can be discharged this coming week, but we're still taking everything one day at a time."
Reuters reports that Bush's son, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, says that his father is expected to be released Monday, Jan. 14.
The former president, 88, was initially hospitalized for a bronchitis and was later transferred to intensive care in December after sustaining a persistent fever and other complications. Bush also had previously been diagnosed with lower-body Parkinsonism, which causes a loss of balance. The diagnosis has had the former president using a wheelchair for the past year.
