Former Miss America Teresa Scanlan catches dengue fever while volunteering at Haiti orphanage

Former Miss America Teresa Scanlan is suffering from dengue fever, and will be forced to miss "The 2013 Miss America Competition" in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Sun reports Scanlan, who won the 2011 Miss America pageant at the age of 17, believes she was infected by mosquitoes while volunteering at an orphanage in Haiti.
Scanlan is 2010's Miss Nebraska, but now resides in Virginia, where she attends Patrick Henry College. It seems she won't be well enough to make the trip fro Virginia to Nevada to see the 2013 Miss America winner crowned.
