ESPN McCarron apology: Katherine Webb commentary was over the line
ESPN has issued an apology following Monday night's BCS National Championship game where the world was introduced to Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend, 2012 Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb. The problem comes from ESPN host Brent Musburger who spent a fair amount of time talking about Webb, rather than the game. (Video embedded below.)
According to E! Online, ESPN has apologized for the excessive commentary stating, "We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."
Webb didn't seem too phased by Musberger, insisting she didn't think it was creepy at all. The televised attention led to a huge jump in Twitter followers for her, as well as a chance for Donald Trump to try to cash in on her instant fame, if only for a minute, when he tweeted: "We are going to ask Katherine Webb to be a judge at the Miss USA Pageant coming up in Las Vegas."
