Elton John and David Furnish welcome second child Elijah Joseph Daniel

Music icon Elton John and his partner of 20 years, David Furnish, have welcomed a second child into their family.  Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born on Friday, January 11 in Los Angeles at 6:40 p.m. Baby Elijah joins his big brother, two-year-old Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.

"Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable," John and Furnish tell Hello! in a statement. "The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."

Elijah was born via a surrogate, weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

Last year, John said that he and Furnish hoped to give Zachary a companion. "I think it's difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous," he said. "I want Zachary to have a sibling."

Furnish and John began dating in 1993. They wed in 2005.
