Deborah Ford: 44 years, no sick days for retiring postal worker
Deborah Ford had quite the track record during her four decades of working for the U.S. Postal Service. She went 44 years, no sick days, though that has finally come to and end as the 64-year-old retired recently.
"You know what we say -- rain, sleet or snow can't stop the U.S. mail," she tells Detroit TV station WDIV-TV. "And that's what I live by. I'm coming in."
When Ford had to go to doctors' appointments she would simply take vacation says, and if she still felt sick she's "shake it off." In thanks for her "amazing and remarkable" dedicated service, Detroit district Postal Service manager Chuck Howe is reportedly presenting her with a special retirement proclamation at a surprise luncheon.
