Daniel Radcliffe says gay love scene in 'Kill Your Darlings' is less shocking than 'Equus'
Daniel Radcliffe is receiving a lot of attention at the Sundance Film Festival for his turn as Allen Ginsburg in the beat generation drama, "Kill Your Darlings," and he doesn't understand why. It's only a little gay sex and masturbation, right?
"It's interesting that it's deemed shocking," Radcliffe tells MTV News. "For me, there's something very strange about that, because we see straight sex scenes all the time. We've seen gay sex scenes before. I don't know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally un-shocking."
Radcliffe says he was caught off guard by the media at Sundance making such a big to-do over his on-screen sexual escapades, when he's already stood completely nude on a West End stage for "Equus," a performance which saw him mutilating horses willy-nilly. "Some people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject," Daniel says.
Regarding the actual shooting of the sex scenes with co-star Dane DeHaan, Radcliffe says it was all a blur. "We didn't really have time to feel awkward," says Radcliffe. "I think we shot the thing in about an hour, hour and a half or something like that. You just kind of had to get it done."
