Burt Reynolds hospitalized in intensive care unit

The flu has been running rampant across the country this winter. The CDC has declared it at "epidemic" levels, with 47 of 50 states reporting widespread geographic influenza activity. And being famous doesn't keep safe.

TMZ is reporting that actor Burt Reynolds has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a Florida hospital after coming down with a nasty bout of the flu. A representative for Reynolds says he experienced symptoms for several days, but when the symptoms worsened, he went to the hospital.

Doctors say he was "severely dehydrated" when admitted, but they expect him to make a full recovery. Reynolds most recently could be heard lending his dulcet tones to FX animated series "Archer."
