Box Office: 'Texas Chainsaw' massacres 'Django Unchained' and 'The Hobbit'
In a surprising turn at the box office, the widely panned "Texas Chainsaw 3D" upset "Django Unchained," debuting at No. 1 with $10.2 million. The Lionsgate sleeper slasher is now looking at $21-25 million for a weekend total.Second place "Django" came in a distant second behind "Chainsaw," bringing in $6.2 million for the Weinstein Co., with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" rounding out third at $5.2 million for Warner Bros. While people are still talking -- and singing -- about Universal's "Les Miserables," the film faltered, coming in fourth with $4.9 million.
Gus Van Sant's fracking drama, "Promised Land," expanded but still waned, barely eking out a spot in the top 10.
