Al Pacino to play Joe Paterno in 'Happy Valley' biopic about Penn State coach

Joe Paterno might be gone, but he's certainly not forgotten. Brian de Palma is directing a movie called "Happy Valley" about the former Penn State head football coach, and he's brought Al Pacino on board to play the central character.

De Palma and Pacino are best known for working together on "Scarface," and are an exciting pair to tackle such a touchy story. Paterno had been beloved as the head of the Penn State football team until it was revealed that he was complicit in a cover up about former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky being a pedofile. Not long after he was fired from his position at Penn State, Paterno died of cancer and, to some, of a broken heart.

"Happy Valley" is based off Joe Posnanski's book "Paterno," which is a biography that covers both the scandal and Paterno's life before it. It will be interesting to see if de Palma and Pacino's take focuses mostly on Paterno's fall from grace or on his great career as a coach.
