Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock are engaged

"Miss Independent" singer Kelly Clarkson is about to be a Mrs.

The first-ever "American Idol" winner and her boyfriend, Brandon Blackstock, got engaged Friday (Dec. 14). Clarkson shared the news with her 2 million-plus Twitter followers Saturday afternoon.

"I'M ENGAGED!!!!!" she writes. "I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)"

Clarkson and Blackstock, a talent manager and the son of Clarkson's manager Narvel Blackstock, have been dating for about 10 months. Clarkson said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last month that a lot of people assumed she and Blackstock were engaged already.

"We are totally going to get married," she told DeGeneres. "We love each other. We are totally going to get married one day. No, he has two children and I'm new ... I mean, he's got to put it a ring on it at some point. But I'll wait it out."

There's no word yet on a possible wedding date.
