Johnny Manziel winner of Heisman trophy 2012: 'Johnny Football' says he's 'the face of the team'

johnny-manziel-heisman-trophy-winner.jpgOn Saturday 20-year-old Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M became the first Freshman ever awarded the Heisman trophy in its 78-year run. The Kerrville, Texas native known by his nickname "Johnny Football" credits his football town for his success.

"I'll sit here until I'm blue in the face and say Texas high school football is the best in the entire country. They put out a ton of recruits," Manziel told CBS Sports. "You see the movie 'Friday Night Lights'. Kerrville was a lot like that. The town was closed down for a high-school football game."

The quarterback's record isn't spotless. Earlier this year he was cited for a fight outside a bar, after which he showed a police officer a fake ID. He had to undergo drug and alcohol counseling and is currently subject to random drug testing as a result of the incident.

He's broken several records, particularly given that he just turned 20 on Thursday. "I like being the face of the team," he says.
