Hillary Clinton blood clot caused by bed rest following concussion? - report
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is hospitalized in New York as she undergoes treatment for a blood clot related to her recent concussion. While Mrs. Clinton's condition is being monitored, medical professionals are speculating as to how the concussion may have caused a clot. USA Today reports the most likely scenario is the clot was brought on by the extensive bed rest Clinton required after suffering the concussion.
Dr. Cam Patterson tells the paper, "When you're not moving around, you don't have as much circulation in your lower extremities, and the blood sits around in your legs longer than usual."
No information has been given as to the location of the blood clot, but it was found during a follow-up examination to check on the progress of Clinton's recovery from the concussion.
