Guillermo del Toro's 'Pacific Rim' trailer: 'To fight monsters, we created monsters'

"Today we are canceling the apocalypse!" So declares Idris Elba in the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated sci-fi flick "Pacific Rim."

In the special-effects spectacular, Charlie Hunnam (still using an American accent, like his "Sons of Anarchy" biker kingpin) suits up with his fellow rebels to fight Godzilla-type monsters, or "kaiju," taking over the Earth.

To take on the ginormous aliens -- who invaded "from deep within the sea, a portal between dimensions in the Pacific Ocean" -- Hunnam & Co. pilot Jaegers, giant mechanical robots.

The new trailer also features "Babel's" Rinko Kikuchi and the vocal stylings of Ellen McLain, rocking her GLaDOS voice from the Portal video games in the computerized launch sequence.
