Can the Miss America 2013 contestants impress McKayla Maroney?

For instance, McKayla Maroney, who is one fifth of gold medal winning "Fierce Five," also known as the 2012 USA Olympic Women's Gymnastics team. The Miss America competitors are surely polishing up their talent performances to ensure they're not staring down the barrel of the infamous "McKayla Maroney is not impressed" face.

Another intriguing choice for the judging panel is professional dancer and two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion, Cheryl Burke. 

Former Miss America, Katie Stam Irk will join the panel, as one who knows what it takes to represent the Miss America platform on a national level. The author and spokeswoman wore the title in 2009.

Rounding out the panel will be veteran broadcaster Mary Hart, "Good Morning America's" weather anchor, Sam Champion, entrepreneur and "Shark Tank" star, Daymond John, and fashion designer, Bradley Bayou.

No coincidence that half the judges have strong ties to ABC. The 2013 Miss America pageant airs live on that very network Jan. 12.
