Robin Roberts home - Return hospital trip took 'emotional toll'

Robin Roberts is back home again after a return trip to the hospital to be treated for a virus. In a note to "Good Morning America" fans, Roberts says she considers the hospital stay a "tune up."

"A latent virus, many of us have, was not responding to medication and was pulling down my numbers," Roberts writes.

The veteran broadcaster was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood disorder, just a few years after being treated for breast cancer. She went home from the hospital after a successful bone marrow transplant. Her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, was the marrow donor.

Roberts says doctors assure her a return to the hospital is not unusual. "They assured me the majority of BMT patients have to be re-admitted to the hospital for various reasons," she writes.

"Physically I felt fine," says Roberts. "But being back in the hospital took an emotional toll on me."
