Lisa Whelchel: 'Survivor' star battles West Nile virus

Lisa Whelchel -- who is best known for her snarky turn as Blair Warner on 80's sitcom, "The Facts of Life" -- is battling to be the last woman standing on "Survivor: Philippines."

Now she faces a serious medical battle, as she announced via Twitter she's been diagnosed with West Nile virus.

Lisa tweeted, "Dr. just called with blood test results...I have West Nile. Ugh. I'm fine, just tired. Takes a year to recover." 

It is unclear if she contracted the virus while shooting "Survivor" overseas, but Whelchel is a resident of Texas, where the CDC says more than one third of 2012 cases of the virus have originated.

Fortunately, Lisa's prognosis is positive. The actress tweets, "I've been very touched by all the sweet tweets. Other than tired, I'm feeling fine & expecting a full recovery. So grateful for you. Thanks!"
