Lindsay Lohan says she and Samantha Ronson were 'toxic'

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson broke up three years ago after having dated on and off from 2008 to 2009, and according to the "Liz & Dick" actress, she hasn't had another serious relationship since then.   

"I was bold enough to say, 'Yeah, I like a girl. And?' That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. That's not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak," Lohan tells Us Weekly. "I needed to love myself first before I could be with anyone. And I was going through a lot. Two toxic people cannot be together. End of story."

Lohan, 26, says she and Ronson, 35, have remained in touch since they split in March 2009.

"We're friends now. That's how it started, so I think that's what's meant to be," Lohan says.  

And Lohan seems more focused on getting her career in order these days than dating anyway. She's currently single and looking ahead to future projects. See her next in "Scary Movie 5" and "The Canyons."
