Jon Gruden rumors false - Tennessee Volunteers and Cleveland Browns have made no offer
Jon Gruden says there is no truth behind the rumors that he will take a coaching job with the Tennessee Volunteers. The AP reports a Memphis television station spilled the beans on an alleged offer that would make Gruden part owner of the Cleveland Browns.Gruden tells ESPN's "Mike & Mike In The Morning" show he has not received any such offer. "I like what I'm doing," Gruden says. "I'm just trying to hang on to the job I have, to be honest with you."
His current job is analyst at ESPN.
A spokesman for the Browns, Neal Gukis, backed up the former NFL coach's claim. "The report that Jon Gruden would potentially have an ownership stake in the Browns is completely erroneous," Gulkis says. He also clarifies that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is not connected with the University of Tennessee's search for a coach.
