David Petraeus resigns from CIA, admits affair

CIA Director David Petraeus has resigned amid revelations of an extramarital affair.
NBC News reports Petraeus admits to ""extremely poor judgment," and writes in a letter to CIA staff, "Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours."
President Barack Obama accepted Petraeus' resignation after he disclosed the affair.
Petraeus served in Iraq as commanding general of U.S. forces before serving in 2010 and 2011 as U.S. commander of the war in Afghanistan. He was appointed to his position as CIA director in April 2011.
