Brooke Burke Charvet: 'Thyroid cancer will have happy ending'

Brooke Burke-Charvet has announced she has thyroid cancer. The "Dancing With the Stars" host wrote a blog for her website, ModernMom, and posted a personal announcement on YouTube.

The 41-year-old mother of four says a lump on her thyroid was found during a routine physical, and she has scheduled surgery to remove her thyroid completely.

"I didn't want anybody to read about and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not," says Brooke. "I feel really good. I've never felt better; that's what's so crazy about this whole thing."

She admits she was thrown for a loop by the diagnosis  and had to gather the courage to tell even her mother. "I'm always so used to being in control, and taking care of everybody, and all my kids," Brooke says. "And now I find myself in this really out of control situation."

Brooke vows to turn a negative circumstance into a positive experience, and has confidence in a great end result. "My doctor did tell me that is is a happily ever after ending kind of thing," she says.
