Ashley Judd running for Senate in 2014?

ashley-judd-senate-kentucky-gi.jpgIs actress Ashley Judd seriously considering a run for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky in 2014? Well, she's certainly not denying the possibility.

Louisville's The Courier-Journal reports that Judd's name has been tossed around by local politicians as a possible candidate to challenge Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky's history.

But, like many other Americans, it sounds like the "Missing" actress is just ready for the dust to settle from the most recent election season first.

"I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I'm very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let's focus on coming together to keep moving America's families, and especially our kids, forward," Judd tells Us Weekly in a statement Wednesday (Nov. 7).

The former Kentuckian currently lives in Tennessee and would have to re-establish a residence in the Bluegrass State before she could run against Sen. McConnell. And regardless of whether Judd throws her hat in the ring, it sounds like she has a fan in her potential opponent.

"Sen. McConnell and his wife are big fans of Ashley Judd's movies and appreciate her energy, particularly when it comes to getting young people engaged in the political process," the Senator's campaign manager, Jesse Benton, tells Us Weekly.
