Arrested for a Facebook like? Yes, it really happened in Mumbai. Two unnamed women were arrested after one posted a comment to Facebook and the other clicked "Like."

The Times of India reports a 21-year-old female complained that the entire city was being shut down to observe the death of Bal Thackeray, an Indian politician who founded the Shiv Sena party.

Police arrested the commenter as well as the woman who liked her status update. Shiv Sena protesters later pillaged the clinic of the Facebook poster's uncle.

Both women were released on bail, and the original poster withdrew her status update and apologized.

India, ironically, is the most populous democracy in the world.
