amy-winehouse-play-canceled-gi.jpgA play about the brief and tragic life of Amy Winehouse has been canceled after the late singer's father refused the theatre company permission to use copyrighted materials, including Winehouse' music and photos.

The play, entitled "Amy" was to open in Januray 2013, according to a report  by the Los Angeles Times. The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen received a permit to put on the production from a Danish copyright agency.

Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, recently published a book about his daughter's life, entitled "Amy, My Daughter." The book describes lesser known details from Winehouse' life, including the inspiration behind the hit song, "Rehab."

The singer passed away July 23, 2011 at the age of 27 after a long and public battle with alcohol and drug addiction.
