NHL 2012: Hockey season canceled through November

la-kings-jonathan-quick-stanley-cup-finals.jpgHockey fans will have to wait a little longer to see their favorite teams take the ice again. The National Hockey League announces the 2012-2013 regular season schedule has been canceled through Nov. 30 2012, as the league and the players continue to duke it out over a collective bargaining agreement.

In a news release, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly expressed his disappointment. "The National Hockey League deeply regrets having to take this action," says Daly. Rather than blaming the players, the commish acknowledges the NHL's role in the collective bargaining process.

"We remain committed to achieving an agreement that is fair for the Players and the Clubs," Daly says, "one that will be good for the game and our fans." Meanwhile, with no end in sight to the standoff between the league and its players, and no clear winner in sight, the fans continue to lose.
