Lindsay Lohan cleared of hit-and-run charges in New York

Prosecutors in New York have decided not to go after Lindsay Lohan on a hit-and-run charge.

Lohan was arrested Sept. 19 after she allegedly hit a pedestrian while parking her car at the Dream Hotel in Manhattan. She finished parking and went inside but was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident a short time later.

Now, TMZ reports the Manhattan district attorney's office has decided to drop the charge after viewing surveillance-camera footage. Prosecutors concluded there wasn't sufficient evidence to get a conviction in the case.

The man who says Lohan hit him (whose name hasn't been released) could still file a civil case against her -- and he may end up in court anyway. Lohan has said she wants to sue the guy for defamation.
